As the above title would suggest, its Project time! and this time were tasked with creating a game with no text involved as well as restraining us from creating a RPG or RTS style game. Our Teams (Wolverine) Approach to this was this idea of a Scientist who after a failed experiment found himself stuck and lost within this alien like world where he must trap monsters in order to recharge his portal gun and find a high enough place in order escape.
Concept and Documenting
I was tasked with the Concept and Art creation of the game, and as an added twist as well as learning new aspects of games development I also took on the task of setting up the documentation for the game, High Concept Documentation as well as the Games Design Document :
Art Style and Concept
The Game's Art style will follow a very simplistic pixel art style following the same style as a lot of old school games as well as newer games that have very simplistic art styles but are still able to convey detail. As documentation is finalized the creation of more concept art following the guidelines set out with documentation will help with the overall look and feel of the game.
Along with Concept art I've also gone ahead and started creating base art files that can be polished later on, and then be used to test out different mechanics of the game such as 2D to 3D combinations and how that will look within the game.
